Milestones consist of schedule information that is important to the completion of the product. You can use milestones to mark targets and dates of significance concerning your project.
To edit Milestones, click the Edit button to access the Milestones details.
Milestone templates control the milestones that will be displayed for your project. The following columns are used to define milestones:
Order- The Order checkbox lets you organize the milestones on the page. Select a checkbox, then use the up and down arrows on your keyboard to move the selected milestone.
Name- The name of the milestone.
Template- The template in which the milestone exists.
Original Date- The original scheduled date.
Current/Actual Date- The current date.
Projected Date- The new projected date.
Show On Dashboard Milestones- Defines if the milestone is displayed on the Project Overview.
When you begin using IMPACTprogram, certain milestones are displayed by default. If you are satisfied with these milestones, you can simply select the desired dates and choose the milestones to display.
If you wish to add or edit the available milestones, click the Add/Edit Milestone Templates link.
Once you have clicked the Add/Edit Milestone Templates link, you will have the option of editing or creating a template. The first step in working with milestone templates is creating the milestone you wish to use. To create a milestone to be used with templates, click the Master Milestone List link.
The Master Milestone List contains all items available to be used as milestones. You can create a new milestone by clicking in the blank line at the bottom of the list and typing a milestone name. If the milestone signals the beginning or end of a phase, use the Phase Type column to select either Issued/Closed or Start/Complete, both of which will result in two linked milestones being created. These milestones can then be used to as Project Phases.
You can delete existing milestones from this list by clicking the Delete button to the right of the milestone.
When you have finished creating or editing milestones, click the Milestone Templates link to edit or create a template.
Use the Select Template drop-down menu to choose the template you wish to edit. When the template is selected, the screen will update to display the milestones currently in use. To add a milestone to the template, click in the blank line at the bottom of the screen and select the desired milestone from the master list. To delete a milestone from the template, click the Delete button to the right of the milestone.
Use the Select Template drop-down menu to choose Create a New Template. You will be prompted to enter a name for the template. Do so, then click OK. To add a milestone to the template, click in the blank line at the bottom of the screen and select the desired milestone from the master list. To delete a milestone from the template, click the Delete button to the right of the milestone.
